One of the youngest fleets in Europe!

It is our belief that flying is all about service, from the fleet to the seats, from the catering to the check-in greeting. You’ll find we operate modern Boeing 737 aircraft, one of the youngest fleets in Europe. These Boeing Next-Generation types, fitted to our specifications, provide distinctive Malév brand interiors and spacious leather upholstered, ergonomic seating in SkyClub and Economy. Complementing this fleet of Boeings are Fokker 70s, Bombardier CRJ-200 and wide-bodied Boeing 767 aircraft. The service reliability of this modern fleet is a major contributor to our impressive punctuality record.

Malév offers two travel classes on all scheduled flights – Business and Economy. Our professional flight attendants guarantee you arrive relaxed and refreshed. In fact, in a number of international surveys we have been ranked among the best for our in-flight services and flight attendants.
Onboard catering always strives for healthy, appetizing and substantial meals meeting modern nutritional requirements. Hot meals are served on all flight at main meal times: breakfast, lunch and dinner in SkyClub, hot breakfast and sandwiches in Economy. As the national airline we devote considerable attention to ensuring a good choice of Hungarian dishes and quality wines. Special menus – diet, child, religious etc. – can also be ordered.

When we say SkyClub we mean business

SkyClub customers gain an enhanced standard of service: automatic admission to the three executive lounges at Budapest and oneworld departure lounges globally, fasttracking through the formalities, telephone check-in (at Budapest Airport), dedicated check-in desks, pre-seating on the majority of flights, and precedence for your baggage (a Priority or VIP tag to speed it through handling).

Taken together with services such as priority at disembarking, it all adds up to a valuable business package. As one would expect, the service in SkyClub is to the very highest standard. Malév business class catering is a gourmet experience where Hungarian dishes, products and wines, “ Hungaricums” (products unique to Hungary), are served on traditional porcelain tableware. Our award-winning cabin staff are a byword for professionalism. The flight attendant-to-passenger ratio in business class is generous, allowing for additional personal touches such as cabin staff taking your jacket or coat to the onboard closet when you board. Complimentary journals and newspapers are distributed and refreshments offered as the flight gets underway. Our Next-Generation Boeing 737, Fokker 70 and Boeing 767 aircraft have fixed seating configurations so our business class is never the converted or ‘middle seat free’ system; we provide genuine business services including an expansive 10 cm more legroom than the European average. As a SkyClub passenger, you also get your own partitioned cabin section. The cabin baggage allowance in SkyClub is 8 kg more than in Economy, in other words a total 18 kg in two carry-on bags (where the security regulations do not limit). The checked baggage allowance is 30 kg on Malév flights, 10 kg more than in Economy i.e. giving you a total baggage allowance of 48 kg!

The Malév oneworld package

Malév Hungarian Airlines joined oneworld on 1 April 2007. As a full-right member, the airline continues to provide its renowned quality services but now combined with all the advantages offered by the global alliance. The Malév oneworld package gives travellers a partner route network with almost 700 airports, opportunities to earn and redeem frequent flyer miles and points across the combined oneworld network, and admission to almost 500 airport departure lounges.

A key oneworld benefit is a seamless “single airline” experience even when travelling on more than one partner airline – this means one ticket, more competitive fares, smoother transfers, through check-in and enhanced support across the globe to ensure all oneworld customers travel safely, securely and comfortably every step of their journey.
Malév Duna Club

The Malév loyalty programme now takes you further and gives you even more than before! Now, thanks to oneworld membership, all our members enjoy truly global coverage when it comes to earning and burning Bonus Points. Award Bonus Points are accrued on the basis of a new, differentiated system conforming to the latest airline practice and oneworld requirements. Points-earning flights continue to be registered in a dual account system. We credit you with Bonus and Club Points on flights with Malév and oneworld partner airlines: Bonus Points can be redeemed for services, Club Points determine card status. The number of points accruable depends on the distance flown, the travel class and membership tier. One of the oneworld benefits valued most highly by customers is the ability to earn frequent flyer points and tier status points when flying on all oneworld member airlines – and of course to redeem those Bonus Points across the entire oneworld route network. Members of any of the oneworld airlines’ frequent flyer programmes can earn miles or points on eligible fares and flights marketed and operated by any oneworld airline. Eligible flights also count towards their tier status – a unique oneworld benefit.

What can you do with your points?

Award tickets
Bonus Points may be used for award tickets on scheduled flights of Malév and on any flights operated by oneworld airlines. They can be used for journeys involving sectors on any number of oneworld carriers and on the flights of our non-oneworld partner airlines as well.
Upgrade from Economy to SkyClub. This privilege is available only for Malév Duna Club Silver (Ruby), Gold (Sapphire) and Platinum (Emerald) cardholders and only on Malév flights.
What are the privileges?

Executive lounges
Top tier members of oneworld airlines’ frequent flyer programmes (Emerald – Malév Duna Club Platinum and Sapphire – Malév Duna Club Gold cardholders) are eligible to use any of more than 400 airport lounges offered by our member airlines before their oneworld flights. At many lounges, passengers are offered refreshments, telephones and computer facilities. At some locations, there are showers, a wider range of business services and meeting facilities.
Priority check-in oneworld Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby, that is, Malév Duna Club Platinum Card, Gold Card and Silver Card regular travellers check-in at dedicated Business desks, irrespective of travel class.
Priority on reservations, waiting lists and airport standby lists.
Preferred seating Choose a preferred seat or indicate a seat preference in advance.
Excess baggage Silver cardholders can carry up to 10 kg, Gold cardholders 15 kg and Platinum cardholders 25 kg over the standard weight allowance.
Discounts with commercial non-airline partners.
