CWT Partner: SWISS
SWISS is Switzerland’s national airline, and its 73-aircraft fleet serves 71 destinations (winter schedules) around the world from its Zurich hub and from Basel and Geneva international airports. As part of the Lufthansa Group and a member of the global Star Alliance, SWISS will remain true to its mission of providing quality air services that link Switzerland with Europe and the world. People who fly with SWISS should always feel at home. And, with its core values of “personal care”, “Swiss hospitality” and “quality in every detail”, SWISS will continue to maintain its high market profile as Switzerland’s national airline.
Expansion in Europe
With the introduction
of the 2008 summer timetable SWISS has added three new cities in Europe - Florence,
St. Petersburg and Sofia - to its permanent route network, with summer service
to Faro and Las Palmas to follow later in the season. St. Petersburg, an increasingly
important business and tourist destination, becomes the second city served by
SWISS in Russia, with a daily non-stop flight in each direction. Our thrice-daily
service to Florence acknowledges the Italian city’s importance as a prime
destination for tourist and business travellers alike. The Bulgarian capital of
Sofia is a rising star in Eastern Europe. Our new daily service is expected to
attract a good mix of commercial and leisure travellers. This latest operational
expansion brings SWISS’s European network to 48 destinations.
New seats now installed throughout SWISS's European fleet
The programme
to re-equip all 52 aircraft of SWISS’s European fleet with new seats has
now been completed. As a result, passengers on all SWISS flights within Europe
can now enjoy the greater legroom and seating comfort offered by the new high-quality
seats.
It was back in mid-October 2006 that SWISS launched the seat refurbishment programme for its European fleet, beginning with its Airbus A320 family. Since then, not only its entire short-haul Airbus fleet but also all the Avro RJ100s of its Swiss European Air Lines subsidiary have been equipped with the new seats.
The innovative Recaro seats, with their carbon frames and leather upholstery, have proved very popular among SWISS customers. Indeed, the airline was voted number-one for cabin comfort on its European services in January by the readers of Business Traveller magazine.
The new Business and Economy Class seats not only offer greater seating comfort. By having the seat pocket at the rear placed higher than on previous seating models, they also provide more legroom for the passenger seated behind. With their lightweight construction, the new seats substantially lower aircraft weight, too, which permits corresponding further reductions in fuel burn.
The investment in these new seats is a further component in SWISS’s ongoing quality drive. By continuously investing in its product, both in the air and on the ground, SWISS is steadily consolidating and further refining its position as a leading quality airline.
SWISS timetable: electronic instead of printed
SWISS has replaced its printed timetable with an improved electronic version available at swiss.com/timetable. This enables SWISS to ensure that changes to the route network and flight operations can be integrated directly into the published timetable.
The interactive electronic timetable contains extra information about arrivals and departures along with additional contact details. A download version in PDF format for desk or portable computers is also available.
