Reliable since 1919
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is not only the world's oldest airline – it’s also one of the most reliable. Constant expansion of its destination network, regular customization of KLM services according to the needs of passengers and reliable cooperation with partners have characterized KLM since the airline was founded in 1919.
Into the world via Amsterdam
From ten German airports, KLM offers up to six flights a day to Amsterdam-Schiphol, from
where the rest of the fleet flies to destinations worldwide. All connecting flights from Germany to
Amsterdam are evenly distributed over the day, so passengers always arrive just in time in
Amsterdam – for the early morning flight to the US or to their connecting flights into Asia late in
the evening. Short ways and excellent signposting at Schiphol airport guarantee passengers quick
and easy transfer to their connecting flights.
Strong with strong partners
Today, AIR FRANCE is KLM's most important partner. The merger into AIR FRANCE – KLM in May
2004 is being implemented step by step, e.g. by code sharing of all flights, a joint frequent flyer
program, coordination of global route networks, joint sales and marketing initiatives and shared
presence at airports, for example by shared check-in counters.
KLM is also a member of SkyTeam, the second largest global aviation alliance.
KLM was able to gain valuable experience in implementing partnerships and cooperation
projects while initiating its first strategic alliance in 1989: with Northwest Airlines, which
ranks fourth among US airlines. All North Atlantic routes were flown as joint ventures and in
Europe NWA is being represented by KLM.
But KLM also has strong presence on other continents. Code share agreements with Malaysia Airlines open up the South Pacific and Australia. KLM has intensified its cooperation with China Southern Airlines as well and signed a contract of cooperation with the Chinese Sichuan Airlines. Accordingly, KLM offers its passengers optimal flight connections to China and within the People's Republic.
KLM & Northwest Airlines celebrate new nonstop-flights!
Good news towards North Atlantic. KLM and Northwest Airlines are expanding their route network. Two brand new connections are the latest highlights:
- Düsseldorf - Detroit
- Amsterdam - Hartford, Connecticut
Since June 2007, Northwest Airlines takes off
daily from Düsseldorf to Detroit. This new nonstop service with B757-200 aircraft connects the
economically important region of North Rhine-Westphalia with the Michigan automotive and industrial
center. In addition, the Northwest Airlines hub in Detroit offers connecting flights to over 146
destinations in North America.
The modern World Gateway terminal is used almost exclusively by Northwest Airlines and its partners and guarantees quick and comfortable transfer to connecting flights. And of course the daily nonstop flight between Frankfurt/Main and Detroit with an A 330 aircraft from Northwest Airlines will be continued.
The new daily nonstop flight Amsterdam – Hartford/Connecticut was launched in July 2007. For Hartford, center of the American insurance industries and preferred location for many international companies, this nonstop flight by Northwest Airlines to Amsterdam is the first and only transatlantic connection.
In addition, the 2007 summer schedule is provided with higher flight frequencies to Detroit,
Boston, Toronto, Los Angeles and New York
.
Travel comfortably in all classes

Flying Blue – The frequent flyer program of AIR FRANCE and KLM
Flying Blue is „naturally generous“: With 18.000 daily flights to 900 destinations and more than 130 partners, earning and spending miles has never been so easy. Flying Blue combines the best that their predecessors, the AIR FRANCE program Fréquence Plus and KLM's Flying Dutchman had to offer:
- Easily obtainable Elite status with special privileges
- Many awards for tempting amounts of miles
- Ever new specials and offers from our partners.
While you can earn status or award miles with all SkyTeam airlines, there are now 20 additional program partner airlines offering you award miles on their flights. And by checking into certain hotels with locations on all continents as well as rent a car companies offer the availability to earn and spend miles.
Flying Blue offers four status levels: Ivory, Silver, Gold and Platinum. You are credited miles on practically every AIR FRANCE and KLM flight, including attractive special tariffs and group travel tariffs. Status members profit not just from the higher number of miles credited to them, but also from a much higher weight limit for free luggage, and they attain priority status in waiting lists. Gold and Platinum members can work or relax in 400 SkyTeam lounges around the world.
Numerous e-services make this program especially convenient. Members can use the Internet to book award flights, check their miles account or change personal data.

BlueBiz - KLM´s business promotion program
KLM added its first non-binding online bonus program, BlueBiz, to its existing business promotion programs. Consequently, even small enterprises can now minimize their travel expenses, since no minimum sales is required for participation in the program, and even registration is free.
BlueBiz functions like a frequent flyer program. After registration in the internet, the travel manager of the company will receive the confirmation together with a BlueBiz number and login data. The personal BlueBiz account is accessible immediately.
For each flight booked with KLM, Air France, Northwest Airlines or Kenya Airways, the business account will be credited with Blue Credits according to cabin class and travel distance. One Blue Credit equals one Euro. For a return ticket Düsseldorf to Bangkok in Business Class, for instance, you will receive 130 Blue Credits.
With those Blue Credits accumulated award flights could be booked. The 130 Blue Credits
mentioned above will be enough, including bonus points, for an award flight from Germany to
Amsterdam in Economy Class
.
