Improvements in service quality at Frankfurt Airport

Lufthansa creates a new layout for departure halls A and B

Foto: LufthansaFrankfurt Airport has undergone a transformation, making it even more user-friendly. Lufthansa has rearranged the check-in counters in Terminal 1 and in the process created three clearly separated areas:

  • Departure hall A now contains an exclusive First Class check-in area with plenty of counters. First Class travellers, HON Circle Members, Senators and Star Gold cardholders can also enjoy the opportunity to sit down here, the benefits of a ticket counter reserved for their use and short walks to the security checkpoints.
  • Business Class passengers and Frequent Travellers can also look forward to hall A, to a separate check-in area which guarantees an optimal, fast service.
  • Economy Class travellers and groups can check in in departure hall B, as can customers of other airlines whose check-in is handled by Lufthansa.

In addition, the number of baggage drop-off and service counters available in halls A and B has been increased. Whether you have checked in over the Internet and printed out your own boarding pass or collected it from one of the 60 Quick Check-in machines at the airport, the new facilities allow you to hand in your baggage quickly and conveniently.

The new layout will help you to find your way around the airport more easily and thus offers you even better service on the ground.

The reorganisation of halls A and B at Frankfurt’s Terminal 1 is part of an airport enlargement and modernisation programme focussed on the wishes and ideas expressed by our customers. The new hall concept will help you to feel at ease at Frankfurt Airport so that you can relax and enjoy your journey with Lufthansa right from the start.

Attractive new destinations from summer 2008

Foto: Lufthansa From next summer, Lufthansa is expanding its long-haul network.

  • Since 30 March 2008, Lufthansa flies daily from Frankfurt to Seattle. The thriving commercial metropolis in the US state of Washington will thus become Lufthansa’s 18th destination in America.
  • On 14 April 2008, Lufthansa is launching a new daily service to the Canadian metropolis of Calgary. The city in the Province of Alberta is one of the most dynamic economic centres in Canada.
  • Lufthansa is expanding its route network in China in the year of the Olympic summer games in Peking. Starting summer 2008 it will be laying on the first flights by a European airline to route newcomers Nanjing from Frankfurt and Shenyang from Munich alongside its existing services to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou (Canton) and Hong Kong.
  • Furthermore, since 1 April 2008 a new service is launched between Frankfurt and the 2 African destinations, Luanda and Malabo.
  • Ex Munich Lufthansa is also further expanding its services to Asia. From 8 June 2008, it will operate a service to Singapore five times a week.
  • Moreover, since 1 May 2008, Lufthansa offers three new services from Dusseldorf: Chicago, New York and Toronto.

In Europe, Lufthansa will also expand its route network and offer new services to Bergen, Billund, Bristol, Cluj and Klagenfurt.

Lufthansa shapes the future at Frankfurt Airport

Pier B at Frankfurt Airport is being comprehensively extended and rebuilt over the next few years – to make it fit for the future. You can then expect an even better range of services.

Among other things, this expansion includes the building of four exclusive Lufthansa Lounges. Docking positions and gates are also being constructed for Lufthansa’s new wide-bodied aircraft, the A380 and the B747-800.

As well as providing you with an enhanced service, there is a further important reason for these essential building works: the implementation of an EU regulation.

During the building works gates and docking positions will be closed and interim arrangements are being developed in conjunction with airport operator Fraport to manage this. Should unavoidable restrictions nevertheless occur during the construction period, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.

The works are divided into five building phases and began on 7 January 2008. The building works are scheduled for completion in June 2011.

Online check-in at Lufthansa now with seat selection

In this way you can obtain a convenient online boarding pass for flights to Canada, Mexico, South America and for selected destinations in the Middle East and Africa.
