Special seaman fares
With special seaman fares you will realize double-digit savings on your travel budget. Seaman
fares are available for all of those working in the maritime branch, including staff from dredgers,
construction ships, cruise ships, offshore work ships, draggers, oil rigs, freight and
transportation ships and fishermen.
To apply for maritime fares, you need to travel from/to a motorized vessel, oil rig or offshore rig, land rig, jackup, etc or so called ‘wet destination’ or harbor.
In addition, the passenger travelling using a seaman fare needs to possess a seaman or muster book, or a letter of guarantee from the company mentioning the dates the passenger will be travelling to or from the ship.
The traveller’s function is of no importance. Besides crew it can also mean maintenance staff,
safety inspectors and/or cruise ship staff.
Favourable terms apply to seaman fares in regards to changes, cancellations and luggage
allowance.
How do we realize savings on air tickets?
- Besides the internationally agreed fares for seaman, we also check our database for Carlson Wagonlit Travel negotiated fares. As this database is being updated 24 hours a day you can be sure that we offer you the lowest fare. The booking of low cost carriers is also taken into consideration. These airlines often fly to regional airports, which may be advantageous for you.
- Your specialized CWT Energy Services contact persons are trained in offering cost saving alternatives.
- CWT negotiates with suppliers on special rates for frequently travelled destinations, when applicable for our CWT Energy Services customers.
- If you can plan your travel ahead, we may be able to combine tickets and subsequently offer better fares. Whilst doing this, we include other factors such as weak currencies, cross tickets and flown miles in order to offer you the highest possible saving on top of the special seaman fares.
