Security measures airlines & regulations

For travel from a destination or for transfers within the EU, Iceland, Norway or Switzerland, the new EU law " security measures at airports" applies as of 6 Nov. 2006. This mainly concerns hand luggage.
In addition, for travel to, from or in the United States of America, a specific US law applies, as described at the Transportation Security Administration website.

EU ban Indonesian airlines

The EU has blacklisted all Indonesian airlines. This list also contains airlines from other countries, e.g. Pakistan Airlines and Taag-Linhas Aereas de Angola More information>
If you have booked or want to book a flight on a blacklisted airline please contact your Carlson Wagonlit Travel travel advisor.

EU New Cash Control Rules

In the frame of the fight against terrorism, international crime and money laundering, the Regulation 1889/2005 on cash controls has been adopted and will apply as from 15 June 2007. The Regulation will provide for a Community-wide approach to controlling cash movements into or out of the Community. More specifically:

  • It will oblige travelers entering or leaving the Community and carrying any sum equal or more than €10,000 (or its equivalent in other currencies or easily convertible assets such as cheques drawn on a third party) to make a declaration to the customs authorities. The €10,000 threshold is high enough to save the majority of travelers and traders from disproportionate administrative formalities.
  • Customs authorities will be empowered under the Regulation to undertake controls on natural persons, their baggage and their means of transport and detain cash that has not been declared.
  • Member States will be required to initiate proceedings against persons who fail to declare cash of a value of €10,000 or more. Member States will have to ensure that the penalties resulting from such proceedings are proportionate to the offence, so as to have a deterrent effect.
  • Information obtained through declaration or through control shall be recorded and shall be made available to the authorities competent for combating money laundering and terrorist financing.

The Commission has developed a leaflet for the travelers explaining the cash control rules applicable as from 15 June 2007 in the 10 most widely spoken languages in the world (English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Turkish and Japanese) – see English text copied hereafter. The content of the leaflet has also been translated into all official languages of the EU and is available from the following link:

BlueBiz is KLM's loyalty program for any company without a current discount agreement with KLM. If a company participates in the BlueBiz-program it can save Blue Credits by flying KLM and participating partners. The only thing you have to do is communicate your BlueBiz (UCC) number (= Unique Client Code) to us and (if applicable) your Flying Blue number before you make your reservation and before the ticket is issued. You only need to do this once.
If your company doesn't have a discount agreement with KLM yet, then you're welcome to participate. There is no fee, you only need to dispose of:
