CWT clients encouraged to consider impact of Greek protests | 10:00 PM GMT, May 6, 2010

As reported via numerous CWT Alerts over the past few days, demonstrations, protests and riots have been taking place in Greece recently, as citizens have reacted to the country's planned austerity measures that will impact pensions and civil servants' pay and raise taxes. Protests turned violent yesterday with the firebombing attack on a bank, resulting in injuries and casualties.

The situation is unpredictable, and visitors to Greece are advised to exercise caution if traveling to major urban areas including Athens or other locations impacted by demonstrations. Strikes and demonstrations are expected to continue into the coming weeks, and may potentially disrupt transportation into, out of, or within the country.

CWT clients are encouraged to run Traveler Locator reports in the CWT Program Management Center (PMC) to identify any affected travelers. Those clients not currently using the CWT PMC on a daily basis for all countries in their program should follow their usual process in working with their CWT program manager to identify potentially affected travelers.

CWT will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as appropriate.
