British Airways cabin crew strike called off by High Court | 02:45 AM GMT, May 18, 2010

British Airways (BA) has informed CWT that the 20-day cabin crew strike planned by its union, Unite, has been called off due to an injunction by the High Court. The first of the four strike periods was set to begin Tuesday, May 18.

Per the BA website, the carrier is beginning to reinstate some of the previously canceled longhaul flights for May 18 into and out of London Heathrow Airport. As flight disruptions from the volcanic ash cloud permit, BA plans to restore full flight operations to/from London Heathrow by the upcoming weekend. Further, BA will offer full flight operations to/from London City Airport and London Gatwick Airport.

As the carrier works to restore service, it asks that only those passengers with confirmed travel reservations arrive at the airport.

If a CWT traveler was due to travel May 18 but has rebooked to a later date, on BA or another carrier, they may rebook back to the original flight, subject to availability at no additional cost.

Important Notes:
• If a passenger claims a full refund and subsequently discovers their original flight will operate, they will be treated as a new customer and can only purchase a new ticket at the prices available at the time. This applies whether the traveler has either received or not received a full refund back to the original form of payment.
• If a passenger rebooks onto a flight outside of the strike period and subsequently discovers their original flight is going to operate, they will be allowed to rebook back onto the original flight at no extra cost, subject to availability. If the same booking class is not available, then the lowest class available in the same cabin ONLY may be booked.
• If a passenger’s flight has been canceled and subsequently re-instated but no changes have been made, BA can offer all the options above, including a full refund.

BA’s Arrival and departure information is current. CWT passengers are encouraged to monitor this site for up-to-the-minute information on all flights for today and up to 10 days in advance. Additionally, CWT recommends that passengers monitor the carrier’s website at www.ba.com for the most current information and refer to the carrier’s Frequently Asked Questions link for additional details.

CWT will continue to monitor the situation and provide additional information as appropriate.
