American Airlines files for reorganization under Chapter 11 | 05:31 PM GMT, November 29, 2011

Earlier today, American Airlines (AA) notified CWT that its parent company, AMR Corporation, voluntarily filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Other airlines covered in this action include American Eagle and its U.S.-based subsidiaries. As outlined in the carrier’s official statement, this action will allow AA time to restructure debt and help with long-term sustainability while continuing to operate normal business and flight operations.

According to the carrier’s website, it expects to continue its current business practices:
• All flights continue to operate on the carrier’s regular flight schedules
• All current ticket policies remain the same
• The AAadvantage program will be maintained, secure and intact
• Admirals Club access and amenities will continue for members and eligible travelers
• AA will remain a member of the oneworld alliance and continue all codeshare partnerships
• All current corporate/client programs remain intact

CWT clients are encouraged to monitor the carrier’s website for the most current information.

CWT will continue to monitor the situation as appropriate and provide additional information from AA as it becomes available.
