Berthold Trenkel
Executive Vice President, Traveler and Transaction Services and President Asia Pacific
Berthold Trenkel is primarily responsible for driving continued progress worldwide in traveler and transaction services, those activities and operations related to traveler support and the handling of CWT client bookings on- and offline. In his dual role, Trenkel will also provide insight into the development of CWT in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region. Based in Singapore, he is a member of the global executive team. In his prior position at CWT, Trenkel was chief operating officer, Asia Pacific.
Before joining CWT in January 2005, Trenkel was with McKinsey & Company, where, for four years, he co-led their travel and logistics practice and oversaw the airline sector in Asia. In his decade-long career at McKinsey, both in Stuttgart, Germany, and Seoul, South Korea, Trenkel also managed clients in a variety of other industries, including automotive and assembly, chemicals and refining, as well as consumer goods and high-tech, focusing on strategy, corporate finance and operations. He became a partner in 2000.
Prior to joining McKinsey, Trenkel managed his own software company for 12 years, specializing in accounting software. He is co-author of a book, Do IT Smart: Seven Rules for Superior Information Technology Performance, which has been published in Chinese, English and German.
Trenkel, a German citizen, completed a Master of Electrical Engineering in 1990 at the University of Stuttgart, where he also earned a Master of Business Administration in 1993.
