As previously reported in
CWT Traveler, international business travelers working in
Belgium must now comply with specific rules set forth by the Belgian government (click here for the
original article). Several clarifications and updates were recently made to the program, called
Limosa.
Travelers must comply with the Limosa requirements if visiting Beligum for a total of five days in a single month – not for five consecutive days, as previously communicated by the Belgian government. The requirement soon may be relaxed to affect only those travelers visiting Belgium for a total of seven days in a single month, according to a Belgian government official.
Though all international travelers since April 1, 2007, have been required to comply with the Limosa requirements, no penalities will be enforced until September 30, 2007, to provide companies and their travelers additional time to make the transition.
Except for several segments of the traveling public, all international travelers, including citizens of European Union-member countries, are subject to the Limosa requirements.
Travelers should direct any questions about Limosa to their corporate travel department.
