In response to recent threats to international aviation security, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has banned many liquid or gel items from passengers’ carry-on luggage until further notice. Banned items include beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel and other items of similar consistency. Exceptions to these rules do exist—passengers may carry on up to four ounces of non-prescription liquid medication, up to four ounces of eye drops, up to eight ounces of liquid or gel low blood sugar treatment, baby formula or breast milk if traveling with a baby or small child, prescription medicine if the label matches the passenger’s ticket.
Marriott International has announced that, beginning in September, all Marriott brand properties in North America will become 100 percent smoke free. With more than 2,300 hotels and corporate apartments and nearly 400,000 guest rooms operating under the Marriott, JW Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton, Renaissance, Courtyard, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites, Fairfied Inn, TownePlace Suites and Marriott ExecuStay brands, this change in policy is the largest move in the industry toward a smoke-free environment.
