Effective November 6, the European Union (EU) relaxed the ban on liquids, gels and aerosols it established on August 10 following threats to aviation security that originated in London. Airports in all 25 EU nations and in Iceland, Norway and Switzerland must comply.
The new rules allow airline passengers to carry individual containers with up to 3 oz. of liquids on board the plane as long as they fit into a clear, resealable, quart-sized plastic bag. Passengers may also take beverages or other liquids purchased in terminals after clearing security checkpoints.
These updated policies align with those that the United States’ Transportation Security Administration implemented on September 26.
