China is expected to be the first country in the world to fully operate an e-ticketing system, which the International Air Transport Association (IATA) is requiring its member airlines adopt by the end of 2007. Currently, 90 percent of passengers on Chinese airlines are traveling on e-tickets, up 80 percent from just a year ago and a clear indication of China’s success in moving toward a paperless ticketing system.
From laptops and cell phones to BlackBerrys and iPods, today’s business travelers often carry
multiple electronic gadgets that require frequent recharging, causing them to constantly search for
electrical outlets while on the road.
Many U.S. airports are responding to this traveler need by installing additional power outlets and recharging stations when they undergo renovations. Fee-based services like Smarte Carte’ s Rapid Charger (costs $3 USD for 30 minutes of charging) and PowerPort’s recharging station (costs $4.50 USD per charge) are also popping up in airports across the country.
