On February 21, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) launched its “Traveler Redress Inquiry Program.” The program allows travelers wrongly identified as national security threats to visit www.dhs.gov/trip to file a complaint detailing their problem.
In addition to filing a complaint about inclusion on the No-Fly list, travelers may use the Web site to elevate situations in which they have been “incorrectly delayed, denied boarding, identified for additional screening, or have otherwise experienced difficulties when seeking entry into the country,” according to DHS.
After receiving each complaint, DHS will follow up with the traveler to obtain any necessary supporting documentation, which must be sent within 30 days of submitting the original complaint. DHS has not specified how long it will take to rectify each complaint, but has said it will share information with other government agencies as appropriate. More information is available by visiting the program’s Web site, listed above.
