Berlin’s Tempelhof International Airport will likely close in October of 2008 now that the city court rejected 13 companies’ efforts to keep the facility open. There are plans to build a new international airport on the eastern edge of the city – Tempelhof is located in the inner city.
The airport has historic significance – when Berlin was divided into east and west during World War II, supplies and food for the Allies were brought in through Tempelhof.
