As previously reported in CWT Traveler, in mid-February Marriott International stopped using oils containing trans fats to cook food at its properties in the United States and Canada. Additional announcements by other hotel chains indicate that this health-conscious trend is gaining ground.
The latest company to eliminate trans fasts is Carlson Hotels Worldwide. Last month, the company announced its plan to eliminate trans fats in food preparation at the majority of its hotels by then end of this year. This includes nearly 625 of the company’s Radisson Hotels & Resorts, Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts full service locations and any Country Inns & Suites by Carlson and Park Inn hotels with food and beverage services on-site throughout the United States, Canada, Caribbean and South America.
