Major U.S. hotels are drawing guests out of their rooms by creating lobbies that are more inviting places to meet, eat, linger, and mingle.
Recently, Marriott launched a new menu for guests hanging out in the lobby. Earlier in 2007, Wyndham Hotels began installing cafes in its lobbies for customers wishing to pick up snacks or light food items. Many other hotels across the U.S. are also embracing the trend and creating a place for guests to hang out.
As part of a broader industry drive, many hotels are seeking a touch of international flare in their lobbies by offering more diversified food choices and transforming their lobbies with comfortable seating, intimate tables, free Wi-Fi access, and trendy bars creating a lounge-like or European-cafe feel.
For guests, the new lobby options can mean faster food service, more snacking variety and a more comfortable inviting atmosphere. It's also another option for those who prefer not to eat alone in the restaurant or order room service.
