Chinese government temporarily increases visa requirements
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China last month unofficially restricted the issuance of
Chinese visas and increased requirements for obtaining a visa, reportedly as a temporary precaution
against unrest and/or potential terrorist activity during the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games.

CBP’s ‘Global Entry’ program set for summer launch
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
recently announced its plans to launch a pilot program designed to expedite screening and
processing for qualified frequent travelers who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents
returning to the United States from international destinations. Biometric fingerprint technology
will be used to verify identity.

April survey results
The April survey question and results were as follows:
Have you flown through one of the airports using the “Black Diamond” security lanes (green,
blue, and black lanes—depending on traveler experience level)? If so, what did you think of the
process?
- 5% responded “It improved the security screening process”
- 5% responded “It did not seem to have much of an impact on the security screening process”
- 0% responded “It negatively impacted the security screening process”
- 90% responded “I have not flown through one of the airports using this process”
