Registered Traveler Program may expand to Atlanta
Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson International Airport may be one of
the next to offer travelers access to "Registered Traveler" lanes for quicker security screening.
If all necessary approvals are attained, Atlanta would be one of the busiest airports joining the
list of more than a dozen airports offering this option.
As previously reported in
CWT Traveler, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) "Registered
Traveler" program is a voluntary program designed to expedite security screening for travelers who
choose to undergo a TSA-conducted security threat assessment. Participants are required to provide
biometric data and also pay an annual membership fee to the service provider issuing the Registered
Traveler identification card.
Currently, airports offering the service include: Albany,
Cincinnati, Denver, Dulles, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Little Rock, New York (JFK and LGA),
Newark, Oakland, Orlando, Reagan, Reno-Tahoe, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, San Jose, and
Westchester County.
