Austrian expands network into Middle East
From 6 May 2009 onwards, Austrian Airlines will incorporate another destination into its regional flight schedule, with four new flights a week to Amman, the capital of the Kingdom of Jordan. Flights on the new route will operate using an Airbus A320 featuring the Austrian Premium Service, enabling guests to enjoy a unique mix of Austrian hospitality and Oriental flair.
The Austrian Premium Service
Travellers can now enjoy the Austrian Premium Service experience on flights to Dubai,
Damascus, Astana, Tehran, Cairo, Erbil, Riyadh and Jeddah. From May 2009 onwards, they will also
have the opportunity to indulge themselves on the flight to Amman: Austrian Airlines has already
fitted out the Business Class sections of four Airbus A320 aircraft with generously-proportioned
new comfort seats from RECARO. These Business Sleeper Seats offer 116 cm of legroom, electrically
adjustable back- and footrests and an integrated massage function – all the comforts required to
lie back, relax and enjoy the flight.
The generously dimensioned space offered by Premium Service is complemented by a selection of culinary delicacies. Austrian flight attendants serve refreshing fruit juices, drinks and warm nuts as an aperitif service, followed by freshly prepared gourmet menus from Do&Co consisting of a number of different courses of Oriental or Austrian specialities on the finest porcelain. The product is rounded off by exquisite speciality teas and coffees.

No more waiting

The Iris Recognition Immigration System is a precise and secure way to speed up identity and immigration procedures upon arrival in the UK. Thanks to the unique iris pattern of the eye, identification takes just a click of a special camera. Passengers can register for IRIS free of charge, which takes 5-10 minutes initially. After that they go through immigration in just 20 seconds to enter the UK.
Continental Airlines will operate one daily flight to New York
This winter season, Continental Airlines will operate one daily flight from Amsterdam to New York and 11 flights per week to Houston, offering connections to more than 200 destinations in the USA, Canada, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.
All flights from Amsterdam will be operated with Boeing 767 aircraft offering individual seats in the center section of the BusinessFirst® cabin thanks to its 2-1-2 configuration. Continental’s BusinessFirst class seat offers much more than just a comfortable extra-wide sleeper seat with fully electronic seatback recline, leg rest, lumbar support and adjustable winged headrest.
As a BusinessFirst passenger, you will also enjoy excellent cuisine with premium wines and a personal entertainment system offering 16 video channels. At the airport, you will be assisted by Continental’s International Concierges, who take care for example of arranging the free shower facility upon arrival, if requested in advance.

Iberia is strengthening its position in Central America
On January 4, 2009 the Spanish airline will operate a fifth weekly flight to Guatemala and
Panama on Sundays in addition to existing services on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
This additional service will increase connection possibilities to Nicaragua, Honduras and El
Salvador under code share with local carriers.
Iberia also makes daily flights between Costa Rica and Europe, and is the sole European
airline to do so.
In 2007 Iberia carried 253,000 passengers between Central America and Europe, a 17.5% rise on 2006, with average seat occupancy of nearly 90%. In 2009 capacity will be hiked to 357,000, an increase of 6.5% from 2008 and of 26% from 2007.
On these routes Iberia flies Airbus A-340s, the 300 and 600 models carrying 260 and 352 passengers, respectively, both of them equipped with the lavish Business Plus class, where passenger can enjoy more space, more comfort, and gourmet meals designed by Spanish master chef Sergi Arola, as well as exclusive check-in facilities and access to all the comforts provided at the Velázquez VIP lounge in Iberia’s Terminal 4 hub at the Madrid-Barajas airport. Recently, Iberia won the ‘Wines on the Wing’ award given by the U.S. magazine Global Traveller, for serving the best wines.
Jet Airways, direct from Brussels to Bengaluru
On October 31st, Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, commenced direct flights between Brussels and Bengaluru.
Bengaluru is the fourth Indian city connected to Brussels by Jet Airways. The Brussels hub operation is ideally suited to offer Jet Airways’ customers flexibility with flight timings, to connect Europe with India and North America.
Flight 9W 132 will depart from the new Bengaluru’s International Airport at 01.35 hrs and arrive at Brussels International Airport at 07.55 hrs. Jet Airways flight 9W 131 will depart Brussels at 10.05 hrs and will arrive at Bengaluru at 00.05 hrs the following morning. Jet Airways will operate the flights every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. (From 15 December 2008 to 14 January 2009, Jet Airways will operate daily flights.)
Passengers will experience Jet Airways’ dual-class, state-of-the-art Airbus 330-200 aircraft featuring its acclaimed herringbone-configured Première, which makes every seat an aisle seat. In-flight drinks
Fruit juices, refreshing drinks, coffee and tea, beer, spirits such as vodka and whisky, and wines are offered both in business class and economy class.
From October 10 to the beginning of December the successful Blue Hour service for Business Class passengers at Lufthansa on continental flights will return to please them. This year, they'll enjoy every Friday from 16:30 and changing weekly a selection of Mediterranean or Oriental delicacies on German domestic routes from Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, and Hamburg. For instance, one week they will be served tasty tapas with Crema Catalana and chili-lemon beer, and another week hearty Oriental treats such as dates filled with walnuts and to go with them a fresh-fruit juice mix with mint.
New First Class service at Gate B in Frankfurt
HON Circle members and First Class passengers can look forward to a new First Class Lounge at
Gate B at Frankfurt Airport. This will replace the two smaller current First Class lounges, B West
and B Central, from mid-February 2009.
With an area of 1,220 sq. meters, the new lounge will provide significantly more space in which to relax and work. The lounge will have 110 comfortable seats, a Wining & Dining offer, a Cigar Lounge, office units and many other amenities. In addition, there are plans to set up a wellness area – a completely new product element of our First Class offer on the ground.
The redesigning of the lounge offer is taking place as part of the rebuilding of the whole of Gate B by Frankfurt Airport. On account of the extensive conversion work, since September 8 only the First Class Lounge B West is operating until the opening of the new First Class Lounge.
