CityJet presents new colour scheme
Earlier this year VLM Airlines announced that the airline would be renamed to CityJet. A new colour scheme was also designed. Two Fokker-50 aircraft of VLM Airlines are already flying with the new CityJet colour scheme. The other aircrafts of the VLM fleet will be gradually repainted.
The first aircraft was baptised ‘Spirit or VLM' as a tribute to employees of VLM Airlines, who have earned many awards for the airline over the years. It will take approximately one year to repaint the whole fleet of VLM Airlines.
The colour scheme was developed by a joint team of VLM Airlines and CityJet, on the basis of design elements that were developed by Brand Image, the Parisian company that does all branding designs for Air France. Vincent Simmerok, an engineer of the maintenance department of VLM Airlines, simulated using PhotoShop the different stages of the design on a Fokker-50 photograph. His design has lead to the final result.
Johan Vanneste, CEO of VLM Airlines, stated: “I am very pleased with the result. VLM Airlines and CityJet will approach the customers at London City Airport with one brand name and one common colour scheme. The blue colour scheme of VLM Airlines dates already of 2004 and will gradually make place for the new white scheme. Since the VLM Airlines brand name will disappear after 16 years, we thought it would be a good idea to baptise the first repainted aircraft ‘Spirit or VLM'.”
Although CityJet will be the single brand, both airlines will continue to operate under their own air operator’s certificates (AOCs).
