Lufthansa commences flights ex Munich to Tashkent
Lufthansa is commencing services from Munich to Tashkent from 28 March 2010, with three flights per week to the Uzbek capital. The route will be flown for Lufthansa by a Boeing 737-800 operated by the Swiss carrier PrivatAir, seating 24 passengers in Business Class and 84 in Economy Class. With this new destination, Lufthansa is laying on a first direct connection from its Munich hub to Central Asia.
Lufthansa re-launches internet connectivity with FlyNet
Lufthansa passengers can soon surf the net above the clouds. The re-launch of the FlyNet
Internet broadband service will bring communications freedom into the aircraft cabin on Lufthansa
long-haul flights in the coming year. Easy-to-use, the system will allow passengers to communicate
via the internet above the clouds.
In addition, the new service will permit in-flight data transfer over standard GSM/GPRS mobile networks. Thanks to FlyNet, Lufthansa passengers will soon not only have WLAN Internet access but will also be able to send sms-messages by mobile phone and transfer data via smart phones such as PDA, iPhone or BlackBerry devices.
FlyNet will be available to all passengers in the cabin – be they in First, Business Class or Economy. It will be installed in stages, worldwide, on all Lufthansa long-haul routes. Rates will differ –from time-based to flat rate– allowing passengers to use this welcome extra in the cabin, as their needs dictate. Lufthansa is the world’s first airline to offer this satellite based system equipped with high transmission capacity on flights in its global network.
