Iberia proudly presents their improved Business Plus class
Currently, the converted Airbus 340 aircrafts* have had their capacity reduced from 52 to 42 seats. One of the most important aspects of the new Business Plus class is the seat. This has been designed to the highest level of comfort, including the latest developments in communication technology and offering a wide range of entertainment features:
(*) Conversion of our A340 fleet is estimated to be completed in April 2010. This aircraft type is used on our routes to the U.S.A., Latin America, South Africa and Israel.
TAP increases services to Africa
TAP will open a new route to Marrakech in June, operating 3 flights per week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The company continues to pursue its expansion strategy in Africa, which is the only part of its network to have shown steady growth since 2001. Passenger numbers have risen from 236,000 to 541,000, an increase of 129%. It was also the only part of the TAP network to record growth in 2009, posting an increase of 6.4%.
With the opening of this new route in June, TAP will now cover a network of ten cities in eight
African countries, operating a total of 55 flights per week between Portugal and the continent. In
Morocco, Marrakech now joins Casablanca, which is currently served by 13 flights a week. TAP flies
seven times a week to both Sal and Praia in Cape Verde, and operates the same frequency to Dakar in
Senegal. The company increased its service to Luanda to 10 flights per week last year. TAP also
flies the Maputo/Johannesburg route three times per week, as well as running one extra direct
flight a week to the Mozambican capital.
Finally, the airline operates three flights per week to Bissau and one to São Tomé.
TAP renews cooperation with Lufthansa Systems
TAP will continue to optimise operations on its routes with the Lido flight plan system from
Lufthansa Systems, having recently renewed its contract in advance, for another five years to
mid-2017. The agreement also includes the implementation and use of new Lido applications, such as
TFR (Traffic Flow Restrictions) management and IFM (In-flight Monitor).
TAP has been using Lido/Flight since September 2006. This industry-leading flight plan solution provides flight operations officials with a range of optimisation options, covering flight time, fuel consumption and the total cost of each flight.
