Many people know Taiwan as a rising economic power that exports mainly electronics. But a major bicycle manufacturer also comes from Taiwan, so it’s no coincidence that the beautiful island in the China Sea is perfect for cycling. Even the capital of Taipei offers some attractive routes along the river – skyline views included.

The metropolis offers both hustle and bustle and tranquility, shopping and culture, lively markets and hot springs. Whether from the top of Taipei 101, one of the world’s tallest buildings, a taxi, the seat of a bicycle, or on foot touring one of the beautiful parks and temples: Taiwan’s capital city offers multiple vistas varied attractions.

Three hours of leisure in Taipei: get out of the hustle or bustle of the tower
For those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a while, a visit to the Da-an-Park or the Chiang-Kai-shek Park in the city center is recommended. There you can also look at the hourly change of the honorary guard in the memorial hall. In good weather, a visit to the tower Taipei 101, which until 2010 was the tallest building in the world with its 508 meters, is worthwhile. The view from the top is spectacular! And on the 86th floor of the tower there is the restaurant Dingxian 101, where, in addition to the wonderful panorama, you can also enjoy excellent traditional Taiwanese food.

The unusual tour: Getting out of the city - Taiwan by bike
It seems a bit bold to explore the city of Taipei by bike, but on the banks of the river Danshui it is very relaxing with a great view of the skyline. If you prefer to be on the road, you can do it on your own or in guided tours throughout the whole island. There are some 3,600 kilometers of cycling trails in Taiwan, and the scenic diversity is incomparable: high mountains, spectacular gorges such as the Taroko Gorge, national parks and beaches. Culture and traditions are also to be found all along the way, and roads stands with fruits of every kind are very inviting for a short rest.

Culinary tip:
In the DinTaiFung restaurant, business meetings can be held in a well-kept setting - and you get to taste the popular steamed dumplings made to perfection with various fillings.
