Ryanair has changed its luggage policy

Since November, Ryanair has changed its hand luggage regulations. Customers without priority boarding can now only take one piece of small hand luggage per person into the cabin free of charge. They have the option of booking a second, larger suitcase weighing 10 kilograms for 6 euros. Up until now, this was included in their free luggage allowance in addition to a small piece of hand luggage. Now it has to be checked in.

According to Ryanair, the reason for this new, strict luggage policy is the long waiting times and delays at the gate caused by the old regulation. Previously, additional hand luggage that did not fit into the luggage compartment could be labeled on boarding and stowed in the hold free of charge. This led to delays of up to half an hour.

Although non-priority customers may now only take one piece of luggage with them for free, this can now be larger – the new dimensions are 40 x 20 x 25 cm. Nothing will change for priority customers. They can still take two pieces of luggage with them on board free of charge.
