Business Travel Tip: La La Land – some inspiration for event organizers

Only recently the Oscars were awarded in Los Angeles and the city on the west coast of the USA was once again enchanted by the magic of the movie world. But LA is always worth a trip and offers numerous possibilities for event planners.

A booming MICE industry
In addition to its creative economy, LA has a thriving MICE segment. Between 2016 and 2017, the Los Angeles Convention Centre (LACC) alone generated $781 million. Los Angeles knows how to do events on a major scale and the Oscars are a great example of this. Furthermore people can find creative and incorporating unique LA venues to showcase their exhibition or hold their meeting.

No event too big!
There is no event too big for LA. Every year, Los Angeles hosts the ANIME Expo at the LACC, which attracts more than 100,000 attendees, and in February, the Staples Centre will feature the National Basketball Association’s All-Star Weekend for 110,000 people. Most appealing though, will be the 2028 World Olympic Summer Games, which will bring millions of people to the city.

Key venues for event organizers in LA:

  • Movie studio tours – Paramount, Sony, Warner Bros. All do group tours and have great meetings facilities
  • California Science Centre
  • Getty Centre
  • LAAC and Staples Centre for bigger events

Creative team building ideas:
Need some space to get the creative ideas flowing? Why not hike to the Hollywood sign? Or alternatively to get out of the heat and enjoy a day at the beach - groups can learn to surf in Malibu.

  • And don’t forget to head to Sprinkles for your delegate’s cupcakes!
