Deutsche Bahn has fitted its fleet of ICE trains with modern multiprovider technology. The units pool the available network capacities of mobile phone providers and can handle large data volumes. This has two important results for passengers on board: faster internet access and more stable reception on their mobile phones. Since the start of 2017, over 250 ICEs provide passengers with high-performance internet access via wifi. This new service meets the needs and interests of modern customers, even at speeds of up to 300 km/h.
By making sure that first- and second-class passengers alike on ICE trains can go online while travelling, DB has expanded the internet service that was originally available to passengers in DB Lounges at stations around Germany.
